England Qatar World Cup Winners – Chances reducing by the minute
The subject of the Qatar World Cup and England’s performance are likely to be the topic of a few blogs over the coming weeks.
I think England teams will get a better reviews from me for the Rugby League World Cup and the Rugby Unions Red Roses and they will be out quite soon.
The England Squad on first impressions is very much a GS same old, same old squad, with him showing loyalty to players he likes and have historically done a job for him, only scattered with a few new ones.
Now I admire loyalty I think this is a most admirable trait, I am not at all surprise KP is included, but he has had no match practice and while I like him as a player I can only hope a move like that pays off.
HM is another loyalty pick and again he has proven to be invaluable when the going gets tough, but again I am not sure.
I have been watching football since I was 8 and I am fortunate enough to have seen England win a major Trophy, the ultimate back in 1966, but with every year my dreams have been just that, dreams.
It’s easy to criticise managers choices, its again something I have had plenty of opportunity to perfect and every football supporter thinks he knows best, and to be honest sometimes they do, be more often then not we are no better than the current England incumbent.
Every year since 1966 things have slowly got more depressing, as an impressionable 13 year old, I believed we would win the 1970 World Cup, well at least get to the final, as beating Brazil then was a big ask, but losing to West Germany after leading, unforgiveable.
The last Euros was a great opportunity, but GS just lost his way at the end, we didn’t win, but we didn’t really lose, just messed up on some of those easy shots from 12 yards. but less of the reminiscing, my views, not sure the squad has the right balance and all the right players.
Unless GS sorts out his, and not his assistants subs and formulates sensible alternative plans when things are not going well then we will be lucky to make the QF’s
My prediction last 16, my hope and desire, as every major competition I have watched, we will be worthy winners.
Ah I feel a dream coming on…..
