Happy New Year 2024
Good Luck You may need it!
As we welcome in the New Year, we are no doubt all considering what 2024 holds in store for us.
We look forward to a new year and the opportunities it offers, usually because when we reflect on the past year it often has not lived up to the expectation, we had for it 12 months ago.
Those who had memorable events, a birth, a marriage, a new job, meeting a new partner or some good fortune to look back on will remember 2023 fondly.
Those that were not so fortunate who’s year was only notable perhaps for the death of a loved one, an illness, losing a job, struggling to make ends meet, a betrayal of a friend, will only have eyes for the opportunities that lie ahead in 2024.
The world as usual had seen many dramatic events, some good, some bad and some downright atrocious.
We also saw the passing of many a true great, and I passed comment on those in the Blog.
I am fortunate that having retired, each day is effectively a holiday, I can choose what I want to do and how I want to do it, not everyone is that lucky.
My resolutions for the new year are small, I have seen many over ambitious intentions ending shortly after new year’s day, so I have again aimed low, knowing I can achieve my goals. I have as usual put on a few too many pounds – over indulging over the Christmas period, – so I plan to lose 7 pounds, a target well within my capabilities. I also will e seeking to maintain a good level of fitness, body willing.
Others may well have more worthy and extravagant objectives and I wish them well in their endeavours, but whatever your seek, do it with a smile and with good grace. Plus the main wish I have for everyone remains my overriding ambition, that everyone should be more tolerant and understanding of others.
I realise it is unlikely, I have witnessed mankind for so long, – and last year was no different, – and while we can be very loving and kind, we are also so self-centred, brutal, and unforgiving. You only need to reflect on the news headlines of last year to recognise how selfish we can be.
I wish you all a Happy New Year. Please, please try and consider others and be tolerant and understanding. Consider and at least acknowledge others point of view.
We are not always right – well, accept me of course.
