Twitter – “The Bird” has definitely flown!
Twitter – Gone but not Forgotten, Just Yet
Back in October when EM took over Twitter, I made my observations, which have remained pretty consistent since that day. Check out The Bird is Free- Is it Good or Bad.

Recently, as most of you will be aware, Twitter has been rebranded to X. Now I am no great marketing expert, or would I seek to suggest EM has misjudged his audience, but significant re-branding can have a detrimental impact. Sometimes it is just better to stick with what you have, change for the sake of change is problematic.
Is it likely to be the case here. I am not sure, but with many still calling it Twitter and Tweeting, time will no doubt tell.
I am still not great lover of social media, and especially in this form, but like most people using it, I quite like airing my views, and to be honest I am also not too bothered about other people’s opinions…… Freedom of Choice.
Having monitored it for the last 10 months, X remains full of egotistical and self-opinionated people from a variety of backgrounds, with extreme and varied views. Including many celebrities that should know better than to believe their view is the only view, while idealistically seeking to impose it.
EM continues to promote free speech, which is a noble ideal, but there continues to be a great deal of hateful abuse, with many Tweets just being nasty to someone with whom they don’t agree with. Clearly, often written while under the influence of one too many drinks, or even some illegal substance.
Tolerance or understanding, is not something you very often see on this platform.
Now the worthy cause is fraught with danger, and could be considered a double-edged sword, someone’s idea of moderation is often another person’s outrage, and they are potentially going to make someone’s life a nightmare in an attempt to blindly impose their beliefs.
As WC succinctly wrote, and I posted recently:-
“Some people’s idea of free speech, is that they are free to say what they like.
But, if anyone says anything back, that is an outrage.
Good luck to EM, despite what some say about him. He will no doubt strive to make X more profitable, that is what he is good at, but will a rebranding provide the necessary impetus, I am not currently convinced….but what do I know!
