Trump Victory – Does it make any Difference?
Somehow, I doubt it. The USA will remain divided
Since my reviews of the USA presidential election back in January, and again in August the USA has decided. Quite a turnaround in DT’s fortune. Is it for the better or for the worse?
This will depend on how partisan you are.
The USA electorate, though, is still clearly divided. Most are either Red or Blue, and as usual the swing states finally decided that DT would be the next POTUS.
Did it make any difference who got in? Probably not.
Let’s be clear: the power does not really lie with the President (POTUS). It lies with Congress.
The Senate and The House of Representatives. Always has been and always will be. Plus, also the power men in grey suits and military uniforms behind all governments have a big say.
However, because the Republicans have regained the Senate and may well control the House, and if they do, then the Republicans will be able to change the last administrations laws they disagree with.
The President needs to appear strong and a clear leader, especially on the world stage, and DT, is that, whether you like him or despise him.
So despite the media hype – making out it was and still is, so important, and we must take an interest – did it make any difference that DT won? Somehow I doubt it.
It’s a bit like here in the UK. Currently it’s Labour’s turn. In the USA its now the Republicans. If you agree with it happy days, if you disagree, then just suck it up and look forward to the next election in four years’ time.
Life goes on, regardless.
