“The Bird is Freed” – but will it be good or bad, time alone will tell…..

I am not great lover of social media in any form, this may seem strange to some of you now that I am publishing this blog, but I quite like airing my views and to be honest I am not too bothered about other people’s opinion…… Freedom of Choice.

The idea of Twitter though, I have to admit seems on the face of it to be a great idea, but by all accounts, may have lost its way in recent times, albeit an open, readily accessible environment to express your views is commendable.

Apparently, there are significant numbers of unidentifiable extremists peddling their view and trolling anyone that does not conform to their ideology, also if you show the slightest right wing slant you are likely to be band by the Twitter Police.

Now EM likes the idea of Twitter and following the protracted on off relationship with the previous owners has finally taken over the reins.

He has it would appear, a desire to ensure that Freedom of Speech is once again allowed on Twitter.

Now this worthy cause is fraught with danger and could be considered a double-edged sword, someone’s idea of moderation is often another person’s outrage, and they are potentially going to make each other’s life a nightmare in an attempt to blindly impose their beliefs.

Not really a ringing endorsement of Freedom of Expression……….

I have, nonetheless, signed up “The World According To Spiel” to Twitter to see what reaction my views may have, luckily it is not my driving ambition to achieve millions of followers, or seek numerous re-tweets and likes or dislikes, but maybe one or two additions to the list of like minded souls might be good.

I note that EM has slightly back peddled on the initial intention to re-instate all well know public figures like DT who had been banned, not surprising as when posturing for position your manifesto is often ambitious. However as is often the case, with ownership, comes responsibility and unilaterally changing things that affect the advertising revenue of a multi-billion-dollar company is something that can’t be taken lightly. I expect that change may well happen but maybe not as swiftly as originally thought or expected and is likely to keep news reporters busy for quite a while

EM will I am convinced make Twitter more profitable, that is what he is good at, he will I hope make it more open to moderate and lawful Freedom of Expression, that would be worthwhile, the only issue may be how this is delivered and the obvious trolling and continual indignation of the righteous that will ensue in the process.
