Scottish FM Resignation – The end of IndyRef2, at least for now?
Well, what a surprise, NS announcing her resignation.
I thought she would tough out the latest foray into trans politics, but how wrong can you be.
Now those of you that know me, recognise that I have never agreed with NS politics, but I have to admire her single mindedness. As a leader of the SNP, she has be forthright and led from the front.
She was never a politician to be underestimated.
What recent events has shown us is that 8 years is a very long time in politics and during that time the stress and strain of high office takes its toll.
Now I am not sorry to see her go, I value the Union and I believe a United Kingdom is right, so her departure I suspect is likely to end the immediate call for IndyRef2, I do hope so.
See my post:
This clearly identified the Scottish public was not in favour of the measure and this issue may well have been the straw that broke the camel’s back.
The SNP have see their popularity fall in recent weeks as the issue divided a party, not surprisingly.
So, the challenge for the new leader will be to get the voters back on side. This will be a tough ask.
There will be no handing over the batten like AS to NS, there will more likely be a party that perhaps rips it self apart while trying to eventually unite behind a new leader. Sound familiar?
They may not even get the best leader but a compromise, I do hope it is a disaster.
Time for a different approach to Scottish Politics, but maybe I’m wrong, wouldn’t be the first time.
I do like the Scots, as I have said before they are on the whole, great people,. They deserve better and a more unifying First Minister for the whole country.
But will they get it, somehow I doubt it……
