Red verses Blue – Part 1 – “Be careful of what you wish for” – The Demise of LT
I was planning to right a series of Blogs about a subject I take an interest in but most others switch off too, that is British Politics. The problem has been that things have gathered an unprecedented pace since I started the blog that what do I write about first.
However due to the recent events, I will now as planned issue a number of blogs under the Red v Blue Banner. I will however try not to bore you too much and look to give a different slant on things.
Well in a historical moment LT has resigned after 6 weeks in office, forced out by the MP’s that not too long ago forced out BJ.
One thing that occurs to me is that Conservatives have a great habit of shooting themselves in the foot.
All I would say is “be careful of what you wish for”.
To her credit LT at least had the nous to understand that she couldn’t deliver her promises and resigned. Fair play to her, but the Tory opponents will have a field day for weeks/months to come.
I am not sure if you can remember the reason BJ was over thrown, you will probably say because of his parties during Covid, but that wasn’t really it, what really happened is Conservative MPs in marginal seats thought that if BJ led them into the next election, they would lose their seats and be out of work and claiming job seekers allowance.
The Main Stream Media Reporters loved this especially as it got back at BJ for “Getting Brexit Done”, something they despised.
So, despite having an unassailable 80 seat majority and 2 years before a General Election, the Tory MP’s panicked and ousted BJ and the odd 200,000, Conservative Members elected LT with a small majority over RS.
She won on the back of what was clearly a radical agenda of ideas including lowering taxes in an attempt to break the status quo and get the country going again, as we are in the middle of a Global Crisis, not purely a national one caused by the UK Government, despite what political commentators might say.
A potential bold move that appealed to the Conservative faithful, who had had their dream boy ousted from the job elected by the UK people, and something many will not forgive.
However, LT made the fundamental mistake of not getting her ducks in a row and having the BofE and the markets on board, resulting in what was probably inevitable, you can’t buck the system, so don’t try.
So today, we have the same MP’s who were worried about their jobs 3 months ago, now worried again about their jobs again, and making a mockery of the political system.
We will now probably get MP’s coming together with a unifying leader, who will be unelected by the Conservative Members but someone they hope can hold together the party for 2 years and improve things before a General Election and hopefully save their jobs…… fat chance.
The Opposition Parties will huff and puff about the need for an early GE, but that I would have thought unlikely, lets be clear KS can’t believe how lucky he is, an unelectable opposition 3-4 months ago, now with an opportunity to regain power for socialism and to allow Labour Party to potentially cock things up further for everyone, like all socialist governments, until the electorate realise again too late, that a Blue Government is usually the one with sound economic ideals, but definitely not at the moment.
Watch this space, and a word to the wise, the selfish politicians and the wider electorate , “be careful of what you wish for”, you might not get what you thought you voted for….
