Parenting – “Have you a Licence to do that?”

I have for many years found it hard to understand why quite rightly you need to pass a test to say drive a car or pilot an aircraft or if you want to practice medicine or teach that you prove your competence by taking and passing exams.

But what in my opinion is the most demanding and difficult challenge in life, that of being a good parent there are no rules or standards that you need to pass other than to have the carnal lust to have sex and carry out the most natural thing in the world to seek to maintain the human species in your form.

Now I understand that all animals have this need to copulate, for those that don’t understand this animal instinct;

Copulation is the union of the sex organs of two sexually reproducing animals for insemination and subsequent internal fertilization.

Without this populations will diminish and disappear as their members die from old age, disease, accident or predation.

This however will be the subject of a future blog on Gender Binary and LGBTQ+ inability to maintain the human species but is not a valid reason to bring a new life into our ever-demanding world.

So, on our planet, which when I was born had a population of circa 2.5 Billion but has risen dramatically in just over 60 years to 9 billion plus, we continue to worry about climate change and the inability to feed the children in desperate need throughout the world, not just in developing countries but western countries like the UK……..we are not prepared to address the “Elephant in the Room”.

The world can’t sustain an ever-increasing population if it wants to continue to live to its current standards and ways.

Back to my point, my wife and I like the vast majority of people only considered bringing babies into the world when we knew we could look after them and ensure that they were able to grow up in a caring, healthy, emotional, and financial sustainable way. I like to think we succeeded, and our adult children have now chosen the same philosophy.

It can’t be right that the result of a one-night stand, or a moment of lust or sex in an unstable partnership should be even considered as a motive to bring life into the world. That is true if it is in the UK, a poor African village, suburb in India or any worldwide location.

Similarly, if you are unable to financially look after a child for its life up to adulthood, you shouldn’t even consider bringing life into the world or for that matter allowed too.

You condemn you and the child to heartache and suffering and also the world population increases with no tangible benefit.

I see and hear the child charities pleading for money to help the poor defenceless children of the world, but surely this is missing the point. If efforts were taken to ensure that only children that could be looked after properly by their parents were born, then many if not all of our problems would be solved.

Their efforts could then be focused on those tragic births where people broke the law.

If only children that could be suitably supported were born, the population would be maintained at a sustainable level for the world to prosper, climate change initiatives and goals would be achieved, we also wouldn’t have single parents or families with many children whinging that they can’t afford to feed their families or provide warmth in the winter and seeking the government, (us the people who pay in the end) to increase their handouts.

If you can’t afford it, don’t do it, please do not expect others to bail you out of a situation which was solely your choice.

Many liberal minded people will be screaming that many women do not have the freedom of choice; I am sorry that is not a valid reason or even an excuse in our modern world. If we seek to deal with the majority, we can more readily solve the minority.

I had to pass exams and pass tests to prove my ability do the things I enjoy and like, I therefore think it is high time that there was a test for all parents to pass, before they can bring into the world the most precious thing there Is, a wonderful human life…it’s only fair to them, the world and the child…..

If you are likely to be a good parent and financially stable there would be no problem taking the test, if you were unable to pass the test then, frankly you are not fit to bring up a new-born, and please don’t go quoting human rights…..think of the child for once not your own selfish desire.

…..but don’t hold your breath on this, and while there is a Pope and there are self-righteous politicians asking for your votes and do good liberals it’s just not happening, mores the pity.

When all said and done all children are a “Blessing for Life”, therefore regardless of our laws and my suggestion, please consider the above and prove that you can be a good and responsible parent before it is born and not after.
