“I detest the Tories and everything they stand for” – Really?
This week Jimmy Krankie didn’t appear to stand on ceremony when nailing their colours to the mast.
Comedians/Politicians are normally quite measured when considering stating extreme things, for such a seasoned performer, I can only wonder was this an unforced error that showed them in their obvious true light or a deliberate act playing to their own audiences jaundiced view.
Clearly there is no desire to convince or win over any unionist as to the potential benefits of an ‘IndyRef2’…or more commonly known as, ‘here we go again’… ‘we will keep going until we do it’
To subsequently show no regret for the comments other than to slightly rein in the definition by adding that they were “referring to Tory Policies and values that do a lot of damage” only reinforced the apparent loathing of all things conservative and it would appear millions of Britain’s and me in particular, and we haven’t even met.
But apparently NS detests the following:-
‘That the UK is a great country, a country that benefits from Conservative values and leadership while ensuring future generations enjoy the freedoms and privileges that a Conservative government offers.
Conservatives always stand for personal liberty, democracy, and the rule of law and while they are very proud of these core values, where everyone must be able to look confidently to the future in the knowledge that our society, its institutions, and the things we stand for remain strong and secure.
Conservatives seek to uphold their values for future generations, aiming to guarantee that our children, and their children, can live in a Britain where:
- Our individual freedoms and right to social justice are respected and upheld
- Our right to free enterprise and industry is protected and encouraged
- Our dignified institutions and traditions are safeguarded and carefully maintained’
It does however seem strange, but not surprising in hindsight, that all opposition political parties survive by having a similar hostility to Tories and the vast number of people who believe in the above, which is odd when you consider the values, which do appear on the face of it, to be quite fair and inspirational, with worthy goals, that any sane or reasonable person would seek to follow.
I do understand that NS and the SNP are desperate for independence and so they don’t realise or more likely want to, acknowledge the benefits of a United Kingdom and the common union that it provides, but I am rather at a loss as to why NS and it would often appear many political reporters, ‘detest’ the people that agree with the above values…….but as is often the case with idealistic small minded people, maybe they are just envious of those of us who have such realistic and reasonable principles.
My view of the Scots in general is they are great people with similar standards and morals that unite our nation, have invented so many thing we English have subsequently claimed as our own, that you would want on your shoulder in a fight, a valued work ethic, you can call them your friend, and would always welcome their hospitality and malt scotch whiskey, but crikey, do some retain such large chips on their shoulders, like the Irish they never forget the things the English can’t be bothered to remember.
Scots, please, be very careful of what you wish or vote for………
Fascinating read , as ever, however I must ask for one more insight if I may?
” like the Irish, they never forget the things the English can’t be bothered to remember”
Do you think it’s possible that both countries won’t forget as it’s a topic not yet consigned to history and the complete regaining of
independence for both is an oncoming struggle ?
…good point…..
