England World Cup Chances – Improving or just raised hopes?
I thought it was time to do another blog on the World Cup now we are getting down to the business end of the competition.
Now my earlier blog England World Cup – Chances reducing by the minute, still hold true to some extent, but at least we have reached the QF’s
As always the expectation of all England fans has been raised, they can see that England can play, but let’s be honest, the competition to date has not been the most challenging, albeit I agree there are no easy game at International Level.
The game against Senegal was initially 35 minutes of poor play, suddenly broken by great attacking individual brilliance and three good goals.
England can play they have the players; the players just need to believe in their own ability.
The winners of the World Cup will I believe be the team with the best defence and the ability to score at least one or maybe two goals in a game, so England just need to ensure they don’t make silly errors and they may be in with a chance.
Now I have watched every game possible except when two games have been on at the same time, and to be honest there is no stand out team, but a number of good teams that on their day could win it, but equally are also beatable.
I quite fancy the Netherlands as an outside chance, but they have to get past Argentina and Brazil to get to the final, but one of those will be in the final I just hope its Brazil.
On England’s side of the draw we only have to beat France and Spain to get to the final, I think the winners of our QF will be the ultimate winners, but what do I know, it’s knock out football.
I just hope we go out and play and frighten the living daylights out of the other teams.
We have the best depth of squad; it is for GS to make the right subs and changes of plan when necessary and I just wonder if he can do this when in the heat of battle.
His sides are often too cautious, and he appears to worry about the opposition rather than letting them worry about us, but it’s easy sat in my armchair, drinking a nice glass of red.
I fear we will not lose a game but go out on the dreaded penalties, just like the Euros, but my heart as always says this is the year, it is a great opportunity, come on lads show some belief.
Ah I feel another dream coming on…..
Do you think there is a possibility of GS getting a knighthood?
Only if England win the World Cup
