Trumps Presidential Hopes

It came as no real surprise that DT finally made clear his intention to run for president in 2024.

What from my perspective is more an issue is why someone would want to take on such a responsibility at the age of 78.

His ego is likely to drive him on, but I still find in rather bizarre that an old man should want to take on such a challenging position at that time of life.

He himself criticised sleepy JB when he became president but is now doing much the same.

In my view being leader of the western world should be for a more youthful but experienced person.

Old enough to have the required experience, but young enough to have the necessary drive and enthusiasm to undertake the role successfully.

The previous president BO is even now still only 61 and could do a better job than JB and DT added together and that’s from me a more republican biased observer.

I am 66 today and I am fitter than either of them, but I am looking forward to doing less, not more, having worked hard for the best part of 50 years, surely politics is a for those younger and fitter.

It will be interesting to see if the former vice president MP puts his hat in the ring.

I have to admit I was surprised when JB ran last time, is he likely to do it again? He would be 84 at the end of winning a further term, I thought he would be lucky to live through his first term let alone a second, so I can’t advocate it.

Perhaps leaving the old codgers to tough it out in who can stay wake longest contest might be a novel way of deciding the presidency save on the huge costs usually wasted on trying to buy votes.

RD is still the best politician from a republican point of view and at 42 he has years to pick his moment, if he is smart he will let DT have an uncontested go rather than tearing the heart out of the republican party seeking the nomination and then trying to repair the damage to allow the true fight with the democrats to take place.

By playing it this way, no matter what the outcome of DT efforts he can have a clear run in 2028 when he will be in his prime at only 48 a mere spring chicken compared with the other two.

It’s odd how politicians of the same party, no matter where in the world, have such large ego’s that they are prepared to sling mud at each other in an attempt to convince like minded people that they are the ones to unify their party.

The best leaders are in my opinion, those that are consensus nominations that take the party as a whole with them.

It’s also weird that sycophants massage the egos of egotistical politicians they feel they can manipulate for their own ends and suddenly those that are not really good enough are seeking to lead a party and a countries hopes, LT being a prime example.

So, what is probable, Trump is likely to tough out much legal, political and media scrutiny  and win a nomination, he will then run against sleepy Joe and it will be another tight contest no doubt with DT calling foul if he loses.

Ah well the best we can hope for is, roll on 2028 and RD trying to unify a fractured USA………
