Immigration – It’s a long way from Albania, what happened on route.

Some interesting articles are doing the rounds at present, from the horrific fire bomb of an immigration centre to the concerns about the over crowding in the same centres, plus the increase in illegal immigrants, especially Albanians, crossing the channel – albeit many being trafficked.

Now as is usually the case, the people endangering their lives and their families when attempting to cross one of the worlds busiest waterways has been undertaken at their choice. They are not being asked or forced to make this journey which, when they land in the UK by the way, is unlawful.

They also have ventured from the coast of the Adriatic in the Balkans, South Eastern Europe just above Greece, for the uninitiated to the French coast.

Assuming they took a direct route through Europe they passed through at least 6 countries, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy or Austria, Germany, Belgium or France, but for some explained reason chose not to stay and make a life in those countries but continued to the UK.

Now apparently these asylum seekers have decided upon a north westerly route for some reason, while they had the option of going to other European countries and having fled their country could have sort to try their luck to establish themselves closer to home, but didn’t…..

I wonder why. Could it be that the UK is a broad church with a multi-cultural society that accepts others more readily than many of the other European countries and despite the immigrants knowing that it is unlawful to enter the UK without the proper Visa or documentation, they still want to be here?

They were, prior to venturing on a foolhardy adventure in a rubber dinghy across a 22-mile sea, ensconced in pretty dreadful conditions on the French coast, not being particularly well looked after by the French Authorities, and so they ventured forth.

Now when they get here, they are put into transit camps, which I guess, regardless of liberal minded do gooder’s views or socialist anti-government propaganda of this accommodation, is better than that where they have recently been.

We are also advised that numbers continue to rise and that facilities provided are not good enough plus overcrowded and that the Home Secretary deserves to be sacked, but shouldn’t we put this into perspective.

Despite being asked to accept that the temporary faculties and the consequences of deportation to Rwanda are humanitarianly unacceptable, those that chose to rock up in the UK knew the likely outcome, but still risked life and limb in the vain hope that they may just get to stay in our wonderful country to make a fresh life that many can only dream about.

But they did it out of choice, so why do many of us beat ourselves up that we are not welcoming them with open arms, that they are not being offered wonderful facilities while being processed by our authorities.

I for one believe that we shouldn’t encourage people that do not enhance our country and way of life, but welcome anyone that choses to come here legally and are employed, pay their way and taxes and contribute to society in general.
