Christmas Message – A Prayer for the Stressed at Xmas and for the New Year

Merry Christmas

O Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change

Plus, the courage to change the things I cannot accept

And the wisdom to ignore those with a different opinion from mine.

And help me, O Lord, to be careful to avoid those I dislike or distrust

Even though tomorrow I may inadvertently have to engage with them.

Help me, O Lord, when I give my opinion to help others, even when they disagree.

And finally, Lord, help me to remember, when I’m having a bad day

And it seems like some people may have it in for me

to smile, and tell them, ‘Their absence would be the greatest gift’

 Amen

This year has at least taught me something.
