Labour’s broken promises? – Tax and Spend
What did you expect?
RR’s first budget will be remembered no doubt as the first by a woman. However what is more noteworthy is the fact that it was the biggest tax increase ever, resulting in the highest borrowing by any government – even more than the conservatives. Hypocritical or what?
But for those that voted for change, I did warn you that Labour is all about spending your money, whether you like it or not.
The conservatives, at least try to let you use your money as you feel fit, by reducing taxes.
The two other big negative takes from my perspective were:-
- While SKS, stated that the NHS was broken and needed reform, all Labour has done is put another huge £22 billion into a bottomless pit of poor service. Hardly the sign of reform first, money later policy. This amount is as much as the alleged £22 billion black hole left by the conservatives. Will services improve? Only time will tell, but somehow, I doubt it.
- The raid on those that worked hard and sought to leave something for their children, by the raising of inheritance tax is a complete kick in the teeth. This includes the farmers, that work really hard producing the food we all need, whose efforts will go to waste, discouraging their children continuing their work, and inhibiting the progress of the typical family farm.
I was not looking to criticise the Labour government, as it was elected with a huge majority, albeit by a very small percentage of the electorate, but I felt I couldn’t let it go without passing comment.
However, what do you expect from Labour, but to Tax and Spend.
As I said previously, be careful of what you wish for, and to all those young voters, you will soon see what socialism really means over the next 5 years.
Especially as they have already given larger than inflation pay rises to the militant unions, while taking away the fuel allowance for needy pensioners.
I just hope that the vote in parliament on Dignity in Dying is positive and gives the people what they want.
I find the Health Secretary’s change of stance completely without merit, and totally despicable.
The proposed bill does not give a mandate for euthanasia, but allows terminally ill people who wish to die with dignity, the opportunity to do it on their terms. A right they deserve.
