Trump or Harris – Does it make any Difference?
Somehow, I doubt it – But it will still be a close-run thing
Since my review of the USA presidential election back in January, much has changed.
We now have our two protagonists, and surprisingly, but probably for the best, the Democrats have decided against the old model, but traded him in for a new one.
This one is a bit different, a youngish woman, albeit from the same mould.
Not so surprising is the Republicans have gone with their tried and trusted model of a convicted old man.
Now the election is going to be close. By the time November rolls around, KH’s honeymoon period will be well and truly over, and DT will be attacking her with a vengeance. The media will love it, and most of them will be hoping for a Democrat winner.
The USA electorate is, though, clearly divided. Most are either Red or Blue, and as usual the swing states will be crucial and decide the winner.
Will it, though, make any difference who gets in? The fanatical and partisan will say it does. For the rest of us, probably not.
Let’s be clear: the power does not really lie with the President (POTUS). It lies with Congress.
The Senate and The House of Representatives. Always has been and always will be. Plus, also the power men in grey suits and military uniforms behind all governments have a big say.
However, the President needs to be seen as strong and a clear leader, especially on the world stage – and JB was not good in that regard – but realistically, they are a figurehead.
So despite the media hype – making out it is so important, and we must take an interest – will it make any difference who wins? Somehow I doubt it.
It’s a bit like here in the UK. Currently it’s Labour’s turn, in the USA I’m not sure who will win, but life will go on. Whoever scrapes in.
