DT’s Trial Verdict – Does it make any Difference?
Somehow, I doubt it
Back in January I predicted the outcome of the US presidential campaign:-
USA: Old Doddery Man JB (81), or Vindictive – slightly less old – DT (77).
I’m not sure I have seen such a poor choice for the USA or the world, other than the last election. It is possibly again the lesser of two evils. A truly divided electorate.
Perhaps the Supreme Court, – or some other court – may just scupper DT’s plans, but time will tell.
If so, just watch out for Nikky Haley.
No matter what, it will be a close-run thing – and we know what that means.
Prediction: The world is potentially worse off – whoever wins.
Now does DT’s Trial Verdict change anything? Somehow I doubt it.
A sane man, or one with an ounce of moral dignity, would bow out gracefully from seeking to become POTUS. But we are talking about DT, so we can forget that happening.
I’m not sure there was ever a doubt that DT had falsified his financial records.
For someone in his position, it was inevitable. The issue was just to what extent.
Businessmen – or women – of his nature are somewhat renowned for being slightly less truthful in such matters.
Let’s be clear, unless you are truly a saint, I guess virtually everyone has, to some degree, or another, falsified a tax return, or not fully declared their financial position for some reason – perhaps a mortgage application, for instance.
So, where does that leave us?
If you dislike DT, nothing changes.
If you like DT, it is unlikely anything changes.
If you were undecided, you probably now know for certain he is a lying, cheating SOB who will stoop to any means to get what he wants.
But what does that mean for the election?
DT will possibly be fined or get a suspended sentence, but either of these judgements are unlikely to end his presidential ambitions. Even if he received a prison sentence, I think he would still continue, such is the nature of the beast.
Prediction: Still a close-run thing, but JB will, I guess, have a slightly wider smile on his face today.
