Does Alexei Navalny’s Death Change Anything?
Not if the Masses don’t care
The shock death of Alexei Navalny has made headlines in the West, as the free world sees another adversary of Putin put to the sword.
The West had perhaps hoped that such am outspoken critic of Putin might prove to be a catalyst for some sort of uprising against the Russian leader.
But realistically is this ever likely? Doubtful, as Putin has complete control of everything in Russia, from law making to the law enforcers. Any opponent is quickly silenced, however deemed appropriate.
Logically, there is little chance of any insurrection or rebellion if the mass of the population are not behind it.
While there are many in Russia who despise Putin and seek democratic change, the majority of Russians, either don’t care, aren’t bothered, or do not believe rocking the boat will change things.
They just get on with their own lives, like the rest of us.
Let’s be honest, trying to over-throw dictators is pretty difficult, unless of course the USA wants too. And they certainly don’t relish an outright confrontation with Putin.
The US President, will like the rest of the remaining Western leaders, huff and puff and put sanctions in place, plus support Ukraine just enough to bog down Putin’s ‘Special Military Operation,’ but will do no more.
While Russia forces are pre-occupied in eastern Europe with an ongoing conflict, why would they?
They ae unlikely to go much further unless Putin goes nuclear. But even he is not that stupid..…is he?
The USA and NATO countries will just keep providing enough money to keep the wolves from the door.
Two years on, the conflict is one of attrition. See my blog due out on 24 Feb.
Is the death of Navalny, at around the time of the anniversary of the start of the Ukraine War, a coincidence, or planned. Who can tell with Putin.
Did Putin order his death, most in the west believe he did. He has the inclination, and means.
Will we ever truly know the circumstances surrounding his death?
Somehow I doubt it.
His friends, family and the opponents of Putin will clearly always believe Putin was behind the death.
However, a smiling Putin, will – like other atrocities that have occurred on his watch, – deny this, but lets be clear he is a pathological liar, that once he says something, no matter how outrageous or unbelievable, will think it’s the truth.
Everything he utters falls somewhere between conscious lying or delusion.
Meanwhile, with the Russian Presidential election due shortly, was this just another subtle message from Putin to his dissenters, that says ‘Don’t mess with me. You won’t win.’
Just put your X next to my name…..the only one on the ballot paper.
At least there is a choice in the USA, but not much of one, I guess the Russian people aren’t bothered either way.
