God Save King Charles III

It is not often you know for certain that you are aware that history is being made, but at Noon on Saturday 6 May 2023,  you most certainly did.

The crowning of King Charles III was a very solemn but regal event that was undertaken magnificently as we British have come to expect. If there is one thing we can do, it is Pomp and Circumstance.

No other country can match us on that, and while we have been over taken by others on many things, undertaking a ceremony we remain unchallenged.

All those involved conducted themselves with pride, honour, and true dignity.

I am also pleased that the majority of Britain’s also still like to have a Monarch.

I also understand that there is a large proportion that are indifferent to the Royal Family, and there are also many that would like Britain to be a republic, but this is unlikely to be the case for any time soon.

I recognise that those that are in favour of a monarchy are likely to be older, as younger generations always seem to be against anything hereditary. It is something I understand, as when I was younger I also was indifferent to the royal family, and also dare I say it, to capitalism and conservatism.

When you are younger you feel that it is only fair that everyone is equal and should have the same opportunities and things in life.

However I can assure you, that most are likely to change their opinions as they get older, obviously not the extreme republicans or socialists, but most will, as I did, develop a bit of a soft spot for the Royal Family, HM QE II and those of her close family in my case.

With the parting of the Queen, the role has now passed to her son, and he will I am no doubt become a true and loved king, who will unfortunately not reign nearly as long as QE II.

What I have seen though, is change in that the royal family has adapted, albeit slowly initially, but they recognise that the modern world has changed, and they are seeking to change accordingly.

I am also sure that Charles will set ball rolling, but William and George will take up the mantle in years to come and Britain will remain a Monarchy for the next generations.

Will there be further changes in later years, possibly, but the fundamentals of service to the country will remain and this will always prove of greater worth than any elected president, who will only ever do it for personal or political ends, not something the royal family would do.

The Queen showed during her rein, and her son, grandson and great grandson will continue to show that duty comes before anything else, something no elected head of state can ever match.

I swore my allegiance to the king, on Saturday, not because I was asked to, but because I believe in having a monarch, they will always be honest and true, not like any political appointment that choses it for purely selfish ends.

Whilst I agree with the point on the politicians only doing anything for personal gain I do feel it’s fair to point out that the royal family receive a rather large land subsidy on the 6.6 million acres of the UK they personally own (10% of the country) and obviously pay no tax. I personally would rather be a citizen than a subject, especially a subject to a family of work shy tax dodging Germans.
    Just a thought ???

I’m not going to change your opinion, which as always is most welcome.
Similarly you are not going to change mine….
